Preparation of 1-butene catalyst by isomerization of 2-butene double bond

1-Butene is a chemically active alpha olefin and an important raw material for the production of linear low-density polyethylene, high-density polyethylene, and polybutene. Since 2002, we have been exploring and researching, successfully developing catalysts for double bond isomerization of butene and a complete set of isomerization technologies, converting low economic value 2-butene into high-value 1-butene, achieving increased production of 1-butene and enhanced comprehensive utilization value of C4 hydrocarbons.

This project has obtained 10 Chinese authorized invention patents, including catalysts, processes, equipment, etc One Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, one Sinopec Science and Technology Progress Award, and one China Patent Excellence Award.

Complete technology for isomerization of butene double bonds:

The butene double bond isomerization technology has superior performance and the following characteristics:

(1) Short process and small footprint: including reaction and separation parts, with a small footprint. Taking a 10000 ton/year plant as an example, with a floor area of less than 800m2, it can be flexibly arranged within the existing plant.

(2) High product quality: The produced butene-1 product has high purity and few impurities, which can meet downstream polymerization requirements.

(3) Strong applicability of raw materials: Suitable for both coal chemical and petrochemical C4 raw materials, with strong anti impurity ability. Unless there are special circumstances, C4 raw materials can directly enter the system without the need for a new raw material pretreatment system.

(4) Low energy consumption of the device: The device design fully considers the heat recovery of high-temperature reaction products, reducing the consumption of high-grade heat.

Butene isomerization catalyst:

The main characteristics of butene isomerization catalyst are as follows:

(1) High activity: The conversion rate of 2-butene in C4 can approach the thermodynamic equilibrium conversion rate.

(2) High selectivity: The impurities such as isobutene and 1,3-butadiene that affect product quality have low content. The product can meet downstream usage requirements by tower separation.

(3) High stability: lifespan greater than 2 years.

(4) Environmentally friendly: No harmful or corrosive components, no pollution to the environment.

Promotion application:

This technology was first applied in the Zhongyuan Petrochemical industry in 2009, and a 20000 ton/year butene isomerization unit was built in Shaanxi in 2016. Currently, the unit has been operating continuously and stably for nearly 4 years. Afterwards, complete technology licenses were obtained for multiple enterprises.
