Catalyst for methanol amination to methylamine

Hits: 1 Time: 2024-04-11

summary:

Methylamine is an important organic chemical product widely used in pesticides, pharmaceuticals, solvents, and dyes; The gas-phase catalytic amination method using methanol and ammonia as raw materials is currently the main method for producing methylamine at home and abroad. A silicon aluminum solid acid equilibrium catalyst is used to react and generate a mixture of methylamine, dimethylamine, and trimethylamine, with a product structure close to thermodynamic equilibrium composition. Since the 1980s, research on methanol gas-phase amination technology for producing methylamine has been carried out, and four grades of balanced methylamine catalysts and complete process package technologies, A-2, A-6, A-6A, and A-16, have been successfully developed and industrialized. Among them, the A-16 methylamine catalyst has made significant breakthroughs in suppressing side reactions, which meets the demand for green development of methylamine production.

The technology of methanol gas-phase amination to produce methylamine has independent intellectual property rights and has been awarded Shanghai Second Prize for Technological Invention.

Complete technology for methanol amination to produce methylamine:

Developed a 10000 ton methanol amination process package for producing methylamine. Its technical features are as follows:

(1) High operational flexibility: Strong adaptability of raw materials, achieving a weight ratio of 1/8/1 for methylamine/=methylamine/trimethylamine products through partial or complete return of methylamine and trimethylamine, adapting to market demand.

(2) High yield and low material consumption: The catalyst has the characteristics of high activity, good stability, high selectivity for dimethylamine, and low raw material consumption

(3) Energy conservation and environmental protection: Process design focuses on energy conservation and environmental protection, and fully recovers energy through reasonable configuration of heat exchange networks to reduce energy consumption; Adopting the process of tail gas absorption and methanol recovery to reduce the emission of three wastes and meet environmental protection requirements.

Catalyst for methanol amination to methylamine:

The main grades of A-series catalysts currently in use are A-6A and A-16, and their main characteristics are as follows:

(1) High strength, uniform particle size, and low pulverization are beneficial for improving airflow release and reducing catalyst bed lamination.

(2) High activity, good stability, minimal side reactions, and low environmental pressure.

Main performance indicators:

(1) Methanol conversion rate 299%

(2) DMA selectivity 27%

(3) Catalyst lifespan ≥ 2 years

Promotion application:

The catalyst for methanol gas-phase amination to produce methylamine has been applied in over 20 industrial units for more than 50 times. The new A-16 methylamine catalyst achieved industrial application in 2020, with performance indicators superior to A-6A catalyst.
