1、Overview
The traditional AlCl3 liquid acid catalyzed ethylene to ethylbenzene technology has serious problems of equipment corrosion and environmental pollution. In the 1990s, the molecular sieve pure ethylene gas-phase method for producing ethylbenzene was successfully developed, realizing the greening of the ethylbenzene production process. The process technology indicators reached the international leading level, completely breaking ExxonMobil's exclusive monopoly and making China the second country after the United States to master this technology. The technical indicators of the developed AB series alkylation and alkyl transfer catalysts have exceeded the level of imported catalysts. Based on the above catalyst, a complete set of energy-saving pure ethylene to ethylbenzene technology has been developed.
2、Complete technology for producing ethylbenzene from pure ethylene
The pure ethylene to ethylbenzene technology uses benzene and pure ethylene as raw materials to synthesize ethylbenzene through gas-phase alkylation. Its technical characteristics are as follows:
(1) Energy saving and consumption reduction: Mild process conditions, low reaction temperature, reduced reactor pressure, and uniform temperature distribution;
(2) High product quality: Ethylbenzene products have low xylene content and high purity;
(2) Low equipment investment: The reactor material is made of 16MnR steel, reducing costs by 52%.
3、Promote application
In 2002, it was successfully applied to the clean transformation of the AlCl ∝ ethylbenzene production plant in a certain enterprise in Jiangsu. In 2005, a 160000 ton/year molecular sieve gas-phase ethylbenzene production facility was built in Changzhou. The catalyst has been industrially applied in 7 units including Guangzhou Petrochemical, with a domestic market share of 100%.
